Bottle label printing materials

Our custom wine labels are available in a wide range of materials, including self-adhesive paper, self-adhesive plastic and barrier papers. Choosing the right material for printing your labels is essential, as each option has unique properties that enhance your design and give your labels a distinctive look and feel.

  • Self-adhesive papers:
    • Satin paper: one of the most ideal papers for wine label printing, it has a sophisticated, pearly white appearance, resembling satin.
    • Felt-effect greaseproof paper: this paper has a rough surface and a greaseproof coating, making it resistant to stains and suitable for products that require resistance to oils and vegetable fats.
    • Natural white paper: a white, natural paper suitable for a range of products and easy to apply to different surfaces.
    • Uncoated paper: a simple, white, uncoated paper that can be written on.
    • Gold paper: a glossy, laminated paper with a striking metallic effect.
    • Black pulp-dyed paper: another paper that is particularly well suited to custom bottle labels, it adheres well to damp bottles even at low temperatures and it is resistant to immersion in water and ice.
    • Betulla laid paper: this 100% cellulose paper is treated for mould and damp resistance so it is ideal for wine label printing, especially for premium products.
    • Coated paper: a white, glossy coated paper that can be applied to curved surfaces and offers high colour brilliance.
    • Hay paper: made from grass fibres, this paper has a yellowy-brown colour and imperfections in the pulp, creating a rustic, environmentally friendly look.
    • Uncoated embossed paper: matte white self-adhesive paper with a subtle diamond-textured finish, excellent adhesion and strong moisture resistance.
    • White waterproof paper: pure cellulose self-adhesive paper, treated on both sides to be 100% waterproof and long-lasting under wet or humid conditions. Ideal for high-quality labels for beverages and wine.
    • Canvas paper: ideal for high-quality labels for wine and beverage applications, with a rough textured surface and excellent water resistance.
  • Self-adhesive plastics:
    • Deluxe white polypropylene: glossy white polypropylene with a high-transparency permanent acrylic adhesive, 100% waterproof and long-lasting even in wet or humid conditions.
    • Deluxe transparent polypropylene: glossy transparent polypropylene with a high-transparency permanent acrylic adhesive, 100% waterproof and long-lasting even in wet or humid conditions. Available with mirrored printing, useful when the adhesive needs to be visible from the outside of a glass surface.
    • Metallic holographic polypropylene: polypropylene with a mirrored holographic finish that delivers a striking visual effect and offers good adhesion and resistance to UV rays, water and oil.
  • Barrier papers:
    • White Wet-Strength Hammered Paper: highly water-resistant barrier paper, designed for labeling wine or beer bottles immersed in ice buckets or jars stored in refrigerated environments.
    • Extra-White Wet-Strength Paper: premium natural paper with high whiteness that enhances colour reproduction in every print and offers excellent resistance to water, ice and temperature changes.
    • White natural felt-effect paper: suitable for high-quality labels for wine, beverages and glass-bottled products, with excellent resistance to water, ice and temperature changes.
    • 100% Cotton Wet-Strength Paper: barrier paper made from 100% cotton that enhances tactile feel and resists water, ice and high-humidity conditions. Recommended for labeling wines and spirits.

Special finishes for custom bottle labels

Special finishes are available for certain types of paper but not all of them, so remember to factor this into your choice of paper. If you would like to add a special finish to your custom wine labels, the options you can choose from are a 3D varnish or a gold or silver foil. The 3D varnish adds an embossed effect to certain areas of your graphics, highlighting them, while the gold and silver foils create an eye-catching metallic look.

Once you’ve chosen the perfect material for your custom Wine Labels, you can further enhance the label with a finish that also adds extra protection to the print. Anti-scratch varnish is ideal for protecting the adhesive from stress during storage and distribution, while gloss or matt lamination gives the label a premium look and helps preserve the print over time. Where available, soft-touch lamination can also give the surface a smooth, refined feel.

  • Anti-scratch varnish: protects against scratches and UV rays.
  • Matt lamination: transparent protective film with a matte finish.
  • Gloss lamination: transparent protective film with a glossy finish.
  • Soft-touch lamination: transparent protective film with a soft-touch finish, smooth to the touch.
  • 3D varnish: creates a raised effect on printed areas, giving your label a three-dimensional look that draws attention and highlights specific details of your design.
  • Gold foil: adds a touch of elegance with a shiny, sophisticated metallic effect.
  • Silver foil: similar to gold foil, but with a more understated and modern silver look.

  • Multi-artwork: allows you to print up to 10 different designs in a single production run.

Wine labels for the front and back of the bottle

With Pixartprinting, you can print Wine Labels to apply to both the front and back of your bottle in the same order. Choose the machine application method with front-and-back printing: this option allows you to print the second label on the same side of the roll, freely aligned at the top, centre or bottom. You will receive the same quantity for both the front and back labels, all on the same roll.

Alternatively, if you need to label bottles with different designs, select the hand application method and choose the Multi-artwork option to set multiple variants, each delivered on a separate roll.
